Yeah I can. Checked it out at the store the other day. Id say its at least half the weight and I had both boards at my disposal for the lift test its pretty crazy, I don't have exact weights though, but its definitely very noticeable . I'm thinking its because of the thinned out tips.
We were lifting dozens of these into overhead racks last week and when we got up to the 158's we were busting up at how light they were. Not sure what they did this year to get that dramatic of a change (the spec is very similar), but yeah, it is noticable and it is not limited to the Rook (the Magnum is a huge wide model and is also unbelievably light for its proportions) . I spent a magic day on the new Rook 156 at T-line this summer. If you like like flat, this is a must-demo board.
Yeah plus I can get a 2011 for like half the price, but knowing the 12's are half the weight would dig into my brain every run until I go insane and end up in a psychiatric hospital.
just going on what people have said on this forum, the proto is said to be suprisingly light. pretty sure the t. rice on the other hand is relatively heavy. supposedly that '12 rook is pretty light too.
Yeah I am down to these 2 boards, the proto or rook. I have had a proto in my hand and it felt light, didn't have a 12 rook to compare it to. Hopefully I can find a shop that has both boards in stock.
my foot size is US 11. The available sizes for the board are 154 and 158. Im thinking of pulling the trigger on 158, my two concerns are the difference in flex and I read somewhere the Rook feels bigger for its size...
I've also got my eye on a Rook but i'm having trouble finding a sizing chart for mid-wide boards. Needing a board Japan Niseko next year and looking for a good all rounder that can tackle a bit of everything.
Can anyone point a little insight on whether a size 9 boot would be compatible with a mid-wide board?
Thinking of getting a 154cm or 156cm at the moment.
Size 9 boots are compatible I'm pretty sure every board,
