NS SL sizing help

I know, I know, another one of these threads.

Stats:
- 6'3" 210lbs
- size 11 boot
- I just started snowboarding last year, went up to VT 6 or 7 times, I was very comfortable on blue/some black trails at the end of the season.
- I always used the renter burton boards. 161 most of the time, 164 once.

Setup I'm looking to buy:
- 2012 NS SL 161 or 164
- 2012 Rome Targas or 390 Boss
- Some low profile boot.. Salomon Dialogue or Synapse, maybe Burton Grail.

Questions:
- 161 or 164?? I felt very comfortable on the 161 burton traditional camber. I'm trying to find which Rocker&Camber size is comparable to the traditional 161 feel. I keep hearing that they feel a couple sizes shorter.
- Are the size 11 boot choices I posted above ok on the 255mm SL?

I guess I'm worried the 161 might feel too small, and the 164 would be on the big side... it sucks buying a board without having any experience on it or a RC tech board haha.

I'm trying to pull the trigger and buy this setup asap to get it over with. Any thoughts or opinions? Thanks

3 centimeters is barely more than an inch. if those are your only choices i would use a couple of your own criteria to decide. chances are you would be happy with either choice.

1. how much park/ice/groomers vs pow is this going to see? how much speed?
a. longer for more pow/speed, shorter for park/ice/groomers

2. what size of other boards are you comfortable with?
a. i have read several NS reps responses here to such questions and they usually recommend that you ride something similar to what you are already comfortable with. I would imagine that since you are aiming at their most all around board, this would be true.

don't be scared, board buying is a learning process, your on the right track already!

Thanks

I ride on the East coast (Vermont) so lots of ice/groomers, not much pow.

As posted above, I was comfortable on a traditional camber 161.

I emailed NeverSummer with the same questions, I'm just waiting for a reply.

I hate being so picky / ocd with all this stuff haha

You'll wanna go with the Never Summer Legacy (the mid wide version of the SL) the RC camber will give you the float you need for powder without needing to go up in size and the vario radius sidecut gives you excellent grip for yor riding on the ice coast. I've riden Never Summer boards for a while now and have already rode this years SL (I have size 8's so I rode the SL not the mid-wide Legacy but they are the same boards just different widths) and it is an amazing board!!!!

Idk, after doing a lot of research I think a size 11 boot with a small footprint will be fine on the 255mm width.

I got a email back from a NeverSummer rep, he basically said that he doesnt feel comfortable recommending one size over another, and said I should attend a demo day so I can better gauge whats best for me. I don't think they are going to have a demo day in the North East until Jan/Feb.... so that didnt help me much.

I wanted to support a local shop, but will probably end up buying the SL from dogfunk because of their unlimited return policy, should I later try the other size somewhere and like it more.

I rode a 158 SL for everything at probably 205 lb. I know a guy who rode the Revolver 156 everywhere around 190-200 lbs. I also rode a 157 Proto CT last season at 195 and he rode probably a 155 CTX.

Never Summers ride shorter in that they are easier to manipulate due to the rocker, but ride normal once you get them on edge. I'd say they actually ride longer (or at least more stable) than boards of a comparable size just because they're built so burly.

I think you would have to be a very anal retentive mofo to get one size and dislike it enough to return it for another size. I say just buy the 161 and buy it local.

I am 5'10 but the same 210lbs as you with the same size feet and I ride a 161. Weight is the big deciding factor not height so I would recommend you go with the 161. The 161 will float just fine in the pow. The longer board will just give you a teeny tiny bit more edge but at the cost of a little manuverability and weight. The East Coast isnt known for wide open big mountian lines so I would stick with the small one.
