you dont have to have a wide board, thats ually for the guys with bigger feet, or looking for awesome flotation in the pow. size 10 is about average.

what style of riding? You don't need a wide, and 162 would be okay for freestyle/freeride, but may be a little on the small side for freeride. I'm 6'4'' 200 and I ride a 166.

You're friend is a doosh

At your size 166 is totally legit...you could easily go bigger if you wanted...it's all preference and riding style. What GNU is it? I ride the 166 11up.

Nope, I couldn't get the same deal on the MTX. However, I ride in the NW and not much in the park so the MTX isn't as atractive to me...more of a nice to have.

Although, if I would have waited a little longer I could have got the MTX for a similar price but I would have had to ride my old board longer.

First, try not to let the color of your board influence your choice too much. Second, every Custom comes in both a black and white top sheet.

I just got a 162 normal, and I have a black top with a white bottom (yes, opposite what they have on their website).

With a size 10, you should be ok with the 251 waist assuming your boots aren't ginormous, but it all depends on your stance.
