New boards are furry?

Is it just me or are new boards furry? When I touch the base of my brand new Skate Banana, it feels like there's wood fibers or something. It's not smooth like my old board. Maybe I just have to wax it or something? What are your thoughts?

For some reason I imagined someone in a pedobear costume chasing kids down the slope on a snowboard when reading the thread title... I should probly cut back on the internet.

It's because Lib Tech makes their boards out of Bald Eagles. Now that quality.

No one has mentioned that it's normal to have a furry banana?
