Keep my brand new flow Infinite or not?

Today I went to a local sportsstore to buy snowboard boots and bindings.
I succeeded and bought a pair of shoes and bindings.

The reseller heard that I have bought a board online a started to laugh. I have bought the Flow Infinite 162 cm. He said it would be hard for me to ride it.
He suggested to buy the flow merc.

I have one year experience, drive only groomed runs. Not a natural talent but come down the slopes.

What should I do, sent the ordered board back to the US and order a Merc? Or keep the board?

Excuse me for my bad English it's not my native language

Thanks!

Did he say why it would be hard for you to ride? Remember that he's motivated to sell you an alternative, so you need to be suspicious of his statements. Especially if he's not backing them up with specifics.

So, is it too long? Is it for the wrong type of riding? Is it to advanced a board for you? What's the deal?

My weight: 188 lbs - 85 kg.
Boot size 10.

He say it's an advanced board and it only turns at higher speeds.
As I'm a beginner my speed wouldn't be high enough to turn easily.
In the shop there was a set with flow flite 2 bindings and a Merc board.
There was also a set with a K2 Raygun and strap bindings. But I didn't like strap bindings.

I've bought a pair of flow five bindings. And flow ANSR boots.

He said the first week I would curse myself. The 2nd week it would be going better and after 5 weeks/years i would ride it comfortable. I would go once a year or twice a year to the slopes.
But I go this year on wintersport and wouldn't have a horrible vacation because my board don't suit for me.

have you never ridden before or is it your 5th time out? I own the board and like it alot. It might be a touch on the stiff side for a first timer but if you have been out a few times before you will probably be fine and you won't need to upgrade when you get better. The board is poppy, carves very well, and is damp.

I've teach myself the snowboard basics in an indoor hall because we haven't mountains in the netherlands;).
After a couple of afternoons practicing (5 or 6 times) I went on a ski trip for seven days. I borrowed a board and boots from my cousin.

So I have one week real field experience

gotta ride kink 156w, a NS Revolver 156, and had a ride machete 157w

rode a buddies 160 last year and absolutely hated it, felt so big under my feet and was a tank manuevering it...

when i started riding, i started on a friends board which was a 156 and thats what i like best...but also dont think its all that small being that i consider myself a freestyle rider, 50% park and 50% using the whole mountain as my park

using the calculator below, it puts me on a 156-158 for freestyle riding... :dunno:

It's last years Infinite (2011)and is the version with pop-cam. Not the reversed camber version.
The seller said also the board was to long for me and the 159cm version was better for me. I have determined the lenght of the board via the size chart from Flow. With my 85 kilo I was above the weight range for the 159cm version.
