Default Board Help for the Big Guy

I have a friend who weighs 250 lbs and wears size 14 shoe US is looking to get into snowboarding this season. He is looking for something all mountain, and durable. Since this will be his first year he doesn't want to break the bank buying his new setup but what would you guys recommend he look at for a board and bindings.Looking to spend $500 between bindings and the board.

Get him to rent first. You dont want him to dump money on board gear bindings and all that just to hear him say its tiring and it hurts to fall.

He is looking to get more into it this year. He has already snowboarded and loves it. He just wants reviews on good boards for someone his size. Suggestions would be appreciated.

See if you can find the mentioned boards on craigslist or something.
But otherwise, there's a few Entry level Burton boards that might fit his feet. But if he's serious, there's a good chance he'll surpass it quickly.

Tell him to look at gear trade dot com and also look into previous years boards or on e bay also, I'm positive he could find a board bindings set for less than 500
