What Kind of Tune Should I get for My Board - Snowboarding Forum

Hey guys, mountain is opening Friday and I need to get my board tuned tomorrow. I was wondering if you guys could tell me what I should get the shop to do for me on my new t rice HP. I know that I need to get it re waxed I think? from stock. But I need to know if new boards need edge tunes or not and what I should do for it? I would say I am a really good rider I spend most of my time hitting jumps with the odd rail thrown in. I like going really fast and doing freestyle all around the mountain. Iv never actualy thought of what kind of edge belevel to get if any. I usualy just tell them to get a sharpening or tune and leave it at that but I would like some further info this year! Thanks in advance

If its new, don't do anything to the edges, just ride it. Invest in some wax, a scraper, and an iron, and do the waxing yourself. You'll save tons of money in the long run. Read up on the "how to" threads on this site for waxing and tuning, you'll probably get most of your questions answered there.

Yeah I already wax myself. I was going to get a wax done if my edges needed to be tampered with since its there and Im scared of breaking it by messing with the edges myself. I bought a hand sharpener but it didnt really work that well last year I guess I need some practice BUT Not on a 700$ board lol. I wanted someone who knew what there doing to do my edges. But like previous years I guess I wont get a pre season tune thanks.

Fuck tuning jib rocks it's preseason. Actually it's a new board leave it at home and ride a junker it's WROD time!

You should ask for a base grind. They are probably going to need to do about 8 of them though as its a new board.

8 grinds isn't enough do 16 and tell them you want a giant cross hatched deep spring structure.
