Default My first snowboard

I am ditching the world of demos and thinking of getting the following

Never Summer SL 158
Burton Cartel bindings
Burton Ruler or Rome Folsom boots

Advanced Intermediate - no park, just downhill on mostly groomers

Comments/Suggestions for another board/Bindings/Boots?

I was looking at the Rome Agent Rocker, but people saying it got so squirrly off the lift made me weary

Thanks in advance?

Hey bud, glad your starting to snowboard. 158 seems good but i need to know your weight first and your height to see what size board is perfect for you! Im 5'5 and 115 pounds i have a 51 solomon scout for freeride, and thinking about vetting a 45-48 for mostly park. The biggest thing you shoukd worry about is the weight.

The SL is awesome on groomers. If you want more board feel (i.e. to feel the ground underneath you more) then maybe look somewhere else. I liken it to the ride in the BMW vs a Mercedes (oh no another car analogy). The BMW gives you more road feel and is a bit more responsive. The Mercedes is like driving with a cloud between you and the road.

Neither is bad or good. Just depends on what you want. I had a stiff Technine but there was more feel of the hill than the SL. I loved the SL for cruising. Might pick up a used one if cheap later this year I do miss it.

some dude on here said the lib jamie lynn was better for groomers than the SL. might wanna look into the pro models lib offers (as well as the billy goat) for groomed runs.

Does anyone know any good shops not owned by Vail that would maybe give me a deal if I buy everything from them in the Vail/Beaver Creek area? I heard most of the shops are owned by Vail and won't discount.

Do you guys think 158 or 161?
