I'm in the market for new board. Currently down to just one deck '06 burton supermodel 163 . I'm planning on keeping it for backcounty, but am looking to get something else more freeride/allmountain. I'm 6'3 180 (200+ with gear/pack) size 12 boot, Intermediate. I ride park minimally (10%)usually kickers small/med tabletops no interest in jibbing. I prefer glades, powder, and natural features. I thought I could push the supermodel, but it just doesn't hold edge carving groomers and I wash out, have heel drag at 253 width. Ive been checking craigslist and local shops. Right now I'm looking into
2011 skunk ape 161W on sale for 385(worried this might be too stiff to initiate turns) Also 2011/12 attack banana 159W used once this season for 450 I had considered machete I found 2010 161W for 200, but feel this might to too freestyle oriented. I have solomon cypher bindings that I plan to match with mew board Any recommendation or review of above boards is appreciated. Thanks James |

I'm 6'3" and fluctuate between 180 & 200. If it was me, I would go with the Skunk Ape, or the Machete. I would probably lean towards the Machete. I ride very similar to you. Rarely in the park, always looking for steep and deep, or lost in the trees. I've never actually ridden any of the boards you suggest, but just from my own research and such, that's my opinion.
