11/12 Gnu Riders Choice Vs Skate Banana

Hey guys,

I know similar threads have been beaten to death, but I'm trying to decide between these two boards, and am a little torn about the C2 BTX on the Gnu Riders Choice vs the plain BTX on the Skate Banana.

My main goal in choosing these boards is to get my ground trick game down like those Japanese riders (mainly buttering, presses, etc), so my main question is which board has the softer flex - I'm assuming the Skate Banana does, but is it barely noticeable or substantial? Also, they say C2 BTX is more stable of a ride, but is it good enough to pass off the softer flex of the Banana if the difference is noticeable?

Btw, I have a Never Summer SL-R I'm riding right now, so I'm really looking for that park specific board that can still handle the mountain if needed, not something that's too similar to the SL-R (was considering the Attack Banana too cause I heard it's a Banana on 'roids, but it just sounds too similar to what the SL-R holds right now).

Sorry if any of the comparisons are off, I'm only going by research on the forums, so any enlightenment is greatly appreciated!

BTX is just as stable, I have a C2 and btx board.

I think the Sk8Banana would have the softer flex. For what you want to do check out the Box Scratcher, Gnu Street series or Carbon Credit along with the sk8banana on the Mervin line. I don't know anything about other brands.

The skate would be much better for what you are looking for IMO. Softer flex for sure.

If you have a newer SL with the rocker/camber, then I would say that the Riders Choice C2BTX is pretty similar to what you already have.

I've ridden both these boards and the difference in flex is noticeable. The skate banana is softer and looser than the rider's choice. The skate banana butters and presses much easier than the RC because the nose and tail is softer and there is no C2. Get the skate banana.
