What board NOT to get?
 

So I've been researching for a while and come across suggestions of what to get, but what brand names should I just steer clear of? For instance I see great deals on boards like Avalanche, Lamar, Solomon, LTD, etc etc....but I'm assuming they are cheap for a reason?? :dunno:

Many have said that Forum has gone down hill. I don't know that to be the case, but have seen/heard it mentioned a few times. Hope I'm not perpetuating a false stereotype by saying that.

How so? Their gear is probably still really good even if their team isn't as good as it was. And those Lamar brands and stuff are good starter boards, they're just usually not seen as professional boards.

You think it's build quality or the technology just isn't as good as say a Rome board?

salomon makes good boards from what i heard

Rome is certainly better. They are my favorite company. Not too pricey, great gear, and great customer service.

Yea I started with an airwalk, whole setup boots + bindings as well cost me a total of $250 and I just got my first Forum this season but these mid priced boards definitely fill the gap between wal-mart and professional boards, so they're great to learn on.

i started out on a k2. what are they considered to be?

I read some posts about the decline of Forum boards... I just bought an 06 Forum Youngblood and it seemed okay. I haven't gotten to try out any of their new stuff, but I was just wondering on why people didn't like the newer boards.
