My Proto should be arriving sometime this week, and planning on slapping on my older 09' Burton Customs on it. They scratched up my jib board pretty bad, I was wondering if some thin rubber would prevent this, and maybe dampen a bit. Thoughts and ideas on where I could buy this?
when I took my Burton YO!s off my Evo I was a bit... upset haha but then I thought it's a snowboard it'll get banged up, you can't even see it when the bindings are on... but i feel for you. Do you think putting anything between the binding and board would make it less responsive?
By buddy recently had to put a thin sheet of rubber under his Burton EST bindings to keep them from coming lose constantly and I am sure it will protect as well. So far he has felt no difference in performance.
Snowboard professor has a video on setting up a snowboard and he shows the use of red plumbing gasket you get at the hardware store. He shows the big sheets, my local hardware home depot only had much smaller sheets.
I only used them until I got my stance setup. Plus I always think it helps with resale value and I always ending up selling gear that's just who I am when I can't ride, I lust over gear.
But once my stance was set I ripped them out. They worked and I didn't even know they were there. But when I went to take my bindings off to wax they fell off and I left them off.
My flows have a rubber or foam gasket on the bottom of them, don't notice any difference in feel. They do keep the screws from backing out and you can feel the rubber compress when you tighten the screws.
I put some felt in between the binding and my board. Worked pretty well until I realized that it was wet 24/7 and my snowboard was almost getting moldy.
I got a package of that black rubber grip drawer /shelf liner that I trimmed to fit under bindings that don't have already have the rubber bottom. Keeps the board surface nice, keeps the bindings in place; may help with the screw tight situation (can't confirm or deny; and adds an extra layer of dampening. Works really well. I think a roll was like 6.00 - 7.00 @ Home Depot.
