They might be too soft for your purposes. Soft (jib) bindings allow you to tweak a lot and give you freedom of movement but as a beginner you want something more responsive. At least that's what I think. If you're already sold on a specific setup, just buy it and see how it works for you.

So far the rentals I have gotten have been really stiff. The last one I got was a lot looser and I liked it much more. It allowed me to achieve better balance while I kept the board on an edge.
