I bought the cheapest board I could find for my style (free-ride). It was a new Ride Control for $120 if I remember well. Invest in body protection. I got crash pads shorts, helmet and protective gloves, you will fall, so why suffer? Pick your days wisely.. avoid hard pack and ice like pest, start later in the day. Riding is a bit like riding a bicycle...you need a little speed to keep your balance in a turn. Learn how to fall and roll and you won't get hurt.

Pretty much have that down and linking turns fairly well. Going top to bottom with no falls then runs where I'm all over the place. Didn't know if it was easier to learn on a newer better designed board versus a bit older design.
