Yet Another New Board Suggestion Request

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum and relatively new to boarding. However, I grew up in Southern California and surfed and skated all my life. I first rode a snowboard in college but went once every 5 years or so since then.. I've probably been boarding a total of about a dozen times, mostly in the past 2 years. About 5 years ago, I went off a jump and fell about 10 feet and fractured 2 ribs and was slightly concussed (I wear a helmet now). I don't think I'm skilled enough to hit jumps yet, but I lack the normal fear reaction due to my years of skating half pipes and ramps. Sorry for the long background, but I just wanted to provide as much information as possible to get informed advice. Now for the details:

5'9"
180 during summer and 190 during winter
Size 10 boot

Living in So Cal, I ride mostly local mountains. Time to time I'll make it out to Mammoth, Tahoe, etc. I'd appreciate any advice you can give.

I went to the Burton shop on Melrose and talked to the worker there for a while and he recommended the Sherlock but I've seen mixed reviews on here. I don't know if I'll hit the jumps/park anytime soon considering I'm 37 now but I don't want to rule it out. Thanks in advance!

Do you have a budget in mind? Do you already have bindings/boots?
i recommend the NeverSummer SL. Then again, it seems like everybody else will recommend this board for everything except for big mountain riding, and i bet it could probably do that.

I have boots but I need bindings. I'm trying to sneak out of the store with board and bindings for a grand or less.

Well this is what I went with. I'll be heading out to Heavenly this Saturday for her maiden voyage.

Nice! I just picked up a Proto CT too, and can't wait to go ride it.
