I'm digging these boards. I want to make a discounted purchase here at the end of the season.
I like shredding all over the mountain, hitting jumps/rollers, and I go back country on cat trips. I want something stiff and aggressive to make it through the choppy stuff. I need something to rip groomers on the bad days. Which of these boards will do best in back country and which will do best on a resort? |

I just watched Mr. Tidbits video on the comparison between these 2 boards in the 2013 models. They are removing the pop rods from the highlife. What was the purpose of the pop rods? Browsing through a few posts I seem to see some negative feed back on the pop rods.

After doing a ton of research and listening to Mr Tidbit, I'm going with the Berzerker, in fact I have already asked one to be ordered from my local shop here in Aus so i should have it in 2 months. BUT as i understand it the highlife is a powder/big mountain board but the Berzerker is more all mountain poppy do everything board. I don't know much about the slack county though

POP rods do exactly what you'd think. Carbon rods for more pop.
If you want the super aggressive all mountain board get the Highlife. if you want the powerful but playful get the Berzerker. The Slackcountry is the aggressive pow stick. There ya go.

When you say the highlife is super aggressive, and the berzerker is powerful what do those words equate too?
If you had to describe what the difference between and aggressive board and a powerful board how would you explain that? |

I was torn between the Highlife and Zerker but ended up with the Highlife. I have not ridden it yet but based on lots of research on the google:
1) Highlife is a much smoother ride due to the dampening effects of the carbon array. This was the primary selling point for me as rough terrain made my archers hurt really bad. 2) Zerker is edgier -> Quicker turn initiations 3) Highlife is more stable -> Faster 4) Highlife is lighter because of its UL (Ultra Light) core. I can't directly compare with the Zerker but I just recently bought a 161 Highlife and it's noticeably lighter than my shorter 156 Ride Decade board despite being much longer. 5) Contrary to what others are saying I thought the Zerker was the more aggressive board (Again, i've never ridden either board) The actual difference between the two boards is very small as they are both very capable board at the top of Ride's lineup. Good luck! |

^^They're not that close.
The 2011 Highlife was JB's board of choice. Then for 2012 they added carbon to it in the array and pop rods, making it beefier. So what happened then? A new model with less carbon for Jake cause he don't like his stuff rigid. Less carbon in the Berzerker means its less aggressive. Highlife is point and GO, watch something with Jake Blauvelt riding with Muller or something and that's what the Berzerker is designed for. Carbon make a big difference so going from pop rods 2.0 to 3.0 and going from array 3 to 5 and standard glass to pop glass... Highlife is like a tuned trophy truck and the Berzerker is more like an X-Games purposed rally car.
