Hi,
I'm about to buy a new Never Summer Legacy (all-mountain/freestyle board), and need your help for - you guessed it - board sizing! Yes I know there are tons of threads on this subject, and I've read many of them, but when buying the pricey stuff like this, I'd like to be 100% sure so I'd like to hear some personal suggestions. Pardon me if you have answered very similar questions a billion times, but if you could do it one more time for me, I'd appreciate it very much! I don't live in US and in my country there are no NS boards in shops. My friend will have to buy it in US and then send me here. So I have no chance of demoing it, I have to select somewhat blindly. And I will not have a possibility to return it. So I have to be very careful. I'm 6'2", 180-185 lbs, 11.5 boots, kinda intermediate rider (but quickly progressing), mostly been on rentals until now, typical all-mountain/freestyle usage. Dear owners of SL/Legacy please advice what would you do in my place. Thanks in advance! |

unless you really want a wide board I would stick with the SL you can probably get away with it. I wear size 11s on boards as narrow as 249 no real issues, a 264mm waist on the Legacy is pretty wide.
SL is available in 158 if you plan on doing some freestyle that would be a better size otherwise 161.

Definitely agree with getting the SL over the Legacy. NS boards seem to be wider to start with(compared to Burton or K2). I wear 11.5s and I ride the Proto CT, didn't need the CTX. If your boots have any kind of reduced footprint, which many now do, you'll be fine with a SL.

Thank you all for your replies. I want to play this safe so I'm planning Legacy because I heard the overhang issues about 11.5, plus I can't find the SL (at least with discounted price) right now at my size. And the boot is K2 Maysis, I don't think it has any reduced footprint.
I'm more concerned about the length. So 159 you say? P.S.: Massimo I'm from one of the eastern European countries.

+1 for the SL over the legacy and the 158.
You might need boots with a reduced footprint but most have that now. Also If you get to ride tons of deep pow the 161 would be better. If powder is more an occasional thing and its 30cm or so the 158 will be ideal. I am 175 and I ride a 157 proto in 40cm or so of powder with no problems. Thing with powder is the more skill and experience you have the shorter you can ride. |
