getting first splitboard

This season I've started getting into snowshoeing/climbing/mountaineering. I really want to combine that with snowboarding and get into backcountry boarding. None of my backcountry friends snowboard (they all ski ), so I'm thinking I'll be needing a splitboard if I want to keep up.

I need help figuring out what length splitboard I should be getting. I'm 5'4", 145lbs, size 8 feet. My in-bound boards are a 151cm and fast/skinny 154cm (where I still sink in pow… but that's cause it's only 23cm wide). Would a wider 154 be okay? 158 too long? Is the only difference in sizing that I'll be heavier because of a backpack?

Thanks guys!

lol @ 'light weight'... I'm heavier than most other girls that I meet. :p The reason I'd asked about the 154 is because I found a great deal for one on craigslist, but if it's too short, it's too short. Also found the Prior Brandywine (which I've demo'd and liked in a shorter length) on sale in a 158, and it sounds like that might be okay? I'd probably be mostly riding in the Cascades such as descending from Camp Muir, Baker, St Helens, Sahale, etc.

PS - Snowolf I saw your St Helens trip report. Great photos! I was there two days later and it was all clouds and fog and wind and rain. :(
