The other day I bought a Arbor Element RX (asymmetrical rocker) . I am 6’0” 170 pounds and the people at the shop insisted I get a 159 because of the way the board rides. However, they were not sure if my boots would be too wide for the board. I wear size 10 Burton Moto boots. I found it odd that the “sales experts” were uneasy with size 10 boots on that board but they thought I was crazy for considering a 161 Element. I mainly ride un-groomed snow (powder, tight tree runs, etc.) The board width is 25.25 cm. Should I go with a wider board? Thanks for any info!

1. your board sounds long for me, and I sure wouldn't go any longer at your weight - 161! crikey!
2. almost all normal width boards can accomodate up to size 11. A little bit of a duck stance and you def don't need a wide for size 10s.

the salespeople you were talking to are fucking retards.
you're fine with that board... snowklinger - dude you're trippin this guy could go up to a 164 if it was a freeride/pow board. anything less than a 155 is too short. right in that 157-161 range - i'd say that a 159 will be perfect for an all-around board assuming you aren't a park rat.

The Element's width changes very little between 157 and 161. It changes a lot more (almost 4 cm) in effective edge. The 161 has 123.6 cm of edge. If you are mostly freeriding and care (a lot) less about park that 161 will be sick for you. You are still perfectly centered in its weight and shoe size range.
