Help me cant decide - Snowboarding Forum

Hi guys,

I've been riding for more than 10 years, but maybe 3-4 times during the last two years due to a car accident. Now that things are getting better, except the left ankle and the back which are still a little bit weak, I've decided to sell my old board (which is done) and get back into the sport more seriously. I'm having a hard time trying to decide what to pick. I'm 29, 6'1 and 185lbs. I have 10,5 burton ion boots (which really help my ankle). I prefer riding than freestyle (pipe, rails and stuff like that) but I do like to do boxes or jumps once in a while. I owned a directionnal board in the past and i kinda liked it. I live in quebec so I have to deal with iced trails sometimes. My old board was a 2004 so im kinda new with the new technologies (rocker, hybrid). I read a lot during the last two weeks and it really helped me. Im still cant decide. Thanks a lot for your time

After a lot a research and advices from guys of different local boardshops, my final decision is almost done. I was first looking for a burton custom flying v, a ride Berzerker, or a Never Summer (cobra, hritage or sl). Finally, I'm hesitating between the Never Summer Cobra and the Sl. I really like the Cobra, but with all the carbon fiber, it looks very snappy. The SL might be more appropriate and more forgiving for my weak ankle problem. I'll propably complete the kit with a pair of Flux SF45 bindings. What do you guys think ?

As for bindings, the Flux are great but probably not your best choice. They have very little dampening which won't help your back and they have no canting which I would strongly advise because it will help you have a more natural stance/position. Look at Raiden bindings with airbag technology or Ride bindings which also have canting and are quite comfortable.

Thanks for the advice, the ride were actually my second choice they are a little bit heavier but could be a better choice

I would actually say your best binding bet is going to be the K2 Company. Canting and Harshmellow. Better dampening than Ride's.
