Never summer evo vs SL

I'm in between buying a Evo or an SL.

I ride about 60% mountain/trees and 40% park.

For the Evo I was looking at the 150 or 152
For the SL I was looking at the 151 or 153

Im 55, right around 140lbs with a size 9 boot.

What board and size would be best?

The more opinions the better

Thanks!

Everyone is going to say the same thing.

Proto.

It's the board between the Evo and the SL.

I'll let them tell you the size.

This relies mostly on what you do on the mountain. If you're a pressy, buttery dude in the park, you're probably gonna want the Evo. The SL may be a bit more stable at speed and maybe on big jumps (though the Evo can hold its own). But yeah, the Proto should be in your consideration as well...

The Proto's smallest size is a 152. I'm kinda worried that may be too big for me. I'm kinda leaning towards the 150. I'm not sure if there is a big difference, that's why I am looking for help.

TBH I liked the Evo better than the Proto anyways. I say go with the Evo especially if you spend lots of time in the park (or want to spend lots of time in the park). The Proto can definitely hang, but the Evo I liked better for that sort of riding.

Otherwise, Proto 152 and you'll grow in to it. If you're done growing you can always pack on a few pounds by going on a diet consisting of french fries and malt liquor.

Colorado - Breck, keystone, a-basin

Kind of shitty advice ... but all 3 would work well. If you like bombing or real big features the Evo may be a bit soft, but can handle it if you can. I rode the Evo at Breck and Loveland (I'm 145, board was 152). Imperial and the blackies weren't open yet (shitty season) so I didn't get to test.

But racing my friends the board started to flap a little. Even under Chair 8 with the runs with all the dunes (I think it was Chair 8).

I'd lean Proto/SL. With 40% park and trees, probably a Proto. If you go SL the 151 was enough board for me (also rode that, but I sucked then, not that I'm good now but I'm better).

I've owned all three boards (2004 Evo 153, 2008 SL 155, 2009 SL155, 2012 Proto 154) and have ridden the 2012 versions of all of them to try them out. I'm 5'9" 150 lbs with a size 8 boot and I ride in Lake Tahoe, California.

Personally, I would lean toward the SL 153 I just like the damper construction of SL on the slopes.

Unless you *favorite* thing to do in the park is butters/presses on boxes. If that's true I would go with either the Evo 152.

If you feel like you are in-between then Proto 152 - you like to jib, but it's not your *absolute* favorite thing. I prefer it to the Evo in general as it has better snap. I wouldn't be worried about the length. I ride the Proto 154cm and it is extremely easy to handle and light to swing around for me.

Bingo.

Having owned several of Evo's & SL's, they can both do what you want, but the Proto splits the difference.
