Smile Help me pick first bindings

Hi,

I recently bought a Gnu CHB MTX with Salomon Maoris size 9.5

I'm a beginner/intermediate doing mostly freeride on resorts.

Here are the options I'm looking at:
Union Force (M/L) - $100
Burton Mission (M) - $100 (pretty close price to Cartel because can't find really cheap online)
Burton Cartel (M) - $110
Rome 390 (L/XL) - $110 (also expensive b/c out of stock at cheap places online)

I was thinking the Missions would fit best but b/c the cheapest place has it out of stock, the Cartel's are only $10 more.

The 2 things that worry me are the forward lean and the DialFLAD snapping.

What do you think would work best?

I could also go really cheap with Burton Freestyles at $55 or Ride EX at $75.

Thanks!

Get the Rome 390s you can find them on ebay for cheap. Rome bindings are the best you can get.
I have the Rome Arsnal's and they are sweet bindings.

Don't get the Ride EX. If you're going with Ride, go for the RX. Not much more but they have more options. It's somthing you could grow into. I like Salomon bindings as well. The SPX45 is a good binding and can be had for $108. I'd say the Salomon Relay bingins from REI for $120 are killer, but they are a little too advanced for a beginner.

Otherwise any Rome binding would be fine.

If you are going with Burton, definately go with the Cartels over the Missions. Although, I have heard that the cartel forward lean is a problem for some but I haven't ridden them myself (only played with them at the shop). So if you don't like a lot of forward lean you may want to go with the Missions or a different route all together.

I've got Rome 390s and like them a lot. I chose them over both the Missions and Cartels after a lot of research and fiddling at the shops. The 390s are a little softer than the Burton's, but I like the straps better, they are more adjustable, and they just felt like they were built better (I don't know if they really are). The comformist toe strap is great as a cap strap and seems better than the Burton's IMO.

I don't know much about the other optoins, but have heard rave reviews about the Union Force. Althought I don't think their toes strap works as well as a cap if you are looking for that. The Romes seems to have the best toe strap in the business.

I love my Romes and my Flux's. Heard great things about Unions, but never experienced them.

So people are recommending the Rome's over the Burton's?

I'm not quite sure why. I've heard the Rome's are a bit softer and more for freestyle? Or is that wrong?

hands down rome over burton. they are neccesarily softer then burtons either, this changes model by model. the 390s are their softer binder, although i use mine all over the mountain, including steep chutes and had 0 problems with them. the targas and arsenals are both stiffer than the 390s. in fact i've heard the targas are quite a stiff binding. i'd recommend the 390s for you. you'll love em.

The 390s or any Rome binding are way better than the Burtons overall. I have the Rome Arsenal's and I love them!
