Default Video Etiquette

I know a few of you have filmed at resorts before, so is there anything I should know etiquette wise?

Also, how do you protect your camera? I was thinking about wrapping it up in some sweatshirts and throwing it in my bookbag....think that should be enough?

that'll probably be enough. what kind of camera do you have? i shot with a little sony hvr-a1u and i just wrapped it in a bandana and threw it in my camelbak....then again it was my film schools, and not mine .

for protection while shooting, unless you splurge for a porta-brace bag (they are super hot), i wouldn't worry about trying to protect it too much. a quick idea: i came up with a great way to get low steady shots while boarding. take a real small tripod, put the camera on it, then hold the whole thing upside down and just flip the footage in post. it's how i got all the boarding footage on the loveland video i did, and it turned out great.

and for the resorts, i've never had any problems filming. the people running the lifts usually think it's pretty cool too.

Unfortunately I don't have my own camera. The Communications College at MSU lets you borrow their equipment, but I don't think they're going to approve my request. We use all Sonys though...Mini DVs and 250 DVCAMs. I'm probably just going to use my roomates JVC.

That tripod idea is nice....I may have to try that one if I'm feeling lucky enough to not break anything.

Just duct tape a whole video recorder to your head
