Default Help a beginner pick his first board!?!?!

I am getting ready to make a decision on a board. Here are my choices below listed by price. I am a beginner snowboarder (5'10" 175 w/ 11 boot size). Are there any boards below that stand out from the rest or shouldn't be considered? Any help narrowing my list down would be great.

Salomon Pulse 156 (249mm waist) $125
Option Logic (???mm waist) $140
Palmer P-Line 158 (249mm waist) $150
Forum Recon Insert 158 (251mm waist) $150
Burton Bullet 159 (260mm) $150
Ride Control 158 (252mm waist) $175
Lib Tech DIY Series 157 (251mm waist) $170
Forum Stomper Insert 157w (253mm waist) $180
Burton King 158 (260mm waist) $180

I don't much about the boards you listed, but with size 11 boots you probably want to stay away from the boards with a narrower waist (i.e. low 250s and below). Mid 250s is probably okay, but it also depends on how big your boots actually are and your stance angle.

I do know a little about the Burton King and it is a pretty good beginner board for someone with bigger feet. You may not need something that wide, but it doesn't really hurt either. Of the two burtons, I'd go with the King over the bullet for sure. I don't know much about the other boards because I have big feet so have only researched wide boards (260+).

Lock into the Rome Slash, I just got the Rome agent and I read in this forum that the Slash is just like it but in wide version. I also have a size foot 11 but I have never had problems with a non wide board, maybe later on when I start carving harder I will have problems. I depends how you set your stance, do a search for the Agent and you can read about it. Many in this forum seem to love that board, it work well as a all mountain board, has great pop, and it's excellent in the park.

Good luck
