Hello everybody, i'm new here. A little back round I moved up to Mammoth Lakes for college. I need help purchasing a powder board the cheaper the better as long as it's good! Assuming I will have a lot of powder to ride, I absolutely have no clue of what type of powder board to buy.I consider my self in between intermediate and experience I can handle myself but i still have a lot to learn. I would like a powder board that could handle a groomer if i have to ride one. Thanks everybody
I'm not going to bullshit and act like i know anything about snowboards. Growing up when I did snowboard I always rented and all my family skied so I never really learned much about snowboards. So to the point what are the advantages and disadvantages to a swallow tail
Go look for a used capita charlie slasher or a 56 Jones hovercraft, or an old burton malolo. The capita and jones retail for
$400 so you cannot get a better deal, and they're both great boards
For $400 the Charlie Slasher simply cannot be beaten. It's not even like it's a cheap quality board at bargain prices. Like, seriously, what else could you even consider?
Jones Hovercraft is the same price, but that is a totally different ride. 260 waist width even on the 156. The nose is soooo long! The rocker/camber profile is nice, but the quality is a question mark. Especially on the ones made in Tunisia.
Burton Barracuda is more expensive. Great in pow, carves well. Bit soft for gnar but most of us don't need to worry about that too much. The rocker is a bit weird - on hardpack you have to make a point of pushing your front foot down to ride normally.
Lib tech La Nina - not a fan of the no edge on the nose or tail, also of lib selling extruded bases at premium prices
Burton Fish is awesome, but more expensive, and not so all mountain
