Don't buy Sapient. You want a size 149-151 roughly, will be a forgiving board that you can take all mountain (Although you will need smaller for freestyling).
I'd recommend an Arbor Formula, it has very good reviews as a beginner board. You can find it in a 148 or 150. Read a review here 2012 Arbor Formula Used and Reviewed « |

Snowboard Sizing Guide, Size Calculator
I used that and it told me to get a 146, really my limit is around 200 for the board, which is why these black friday deals seem tempting |

Well I mean I dont really care for the design on the board, brand or anything like that. Im more interested in if the board is a good board. http://www.the-house.com/userarea/MemberDiscount/SpecialItemPage.aspx?itemname=$99%20Snowboards What should i look for in the board, what I really want is a board made to carve around the mountain, It was probably just me but i rented a board and for the life of me i could not turn left (goofy stance)

Brand is important when it comes to boards. Cost is a big issue too. I see you are looking at only the cheapest of boards, and what you pay for is generally what you get.
If you only want one of the discount boards from that particular site, I suggest you look at only the following brands from that list: Arbor Burton Capita Forum K2 Nitro Ride Rome Salomon If you look elsewhere, there are other reputable brands to look for (NeverSummer, DC, Lib Tech, GNU, Bataleon etc) Brands have reputations for a reason, we stick to them because they have the best boards, when it comes down to function and build quality. It's worth paying more if the board is going to be superior and last longer. If you only have $100 to spend on a board, I suggest you wait. Because a cheap board isn't going to handle all the falls that you can expect as a beginner, or perform well in a variety of conditions. Also.. You aren't going to be carving as a new snowboarder, carving is an advanced technique, but I guess you just mean riding around groomers. Last edited by Edge; 11-22-2012 at 03:01 AM. |
