Do you think this board is too small?
Hello all. I just made my first post in the new members section, and I got a PM which helped me to narrow down some of the boards a bit (thanks again!). I found one in my local classifieds at a price that makes it very worthwhile, but I'm not sure if it's too small for me or not.
It's a 157 Burton Barracuda. According to Burton's website: Running Length: 1145 mm Waist Width: 252 mm Sidecut Depth: 21.01 mm Sidecut Radius: 7.81m Stance Width: 530 mm Nose Width: 301.52 mm Tail Width: 286.52 mm Effective Edge: 1195 mm Binding Sizes: Medium/Large I am 6'3 with 12/13 feet (depends on company). Through my own research, I've seen a lot to suggest that I might need a wide board, but they seem to be difficult to find, more expensive, and with a much more limited selection. If the 157 is too small, and I don't need a wide, should I keep my eyes open for a 161/165/169? Thoughts? Thanks! :D  |
what do you weigh?

57 will be a fine size for a little more maneuverability. So if its more tree pow and whatnot do it up. For bigger bowls shoot for a larger size.

Hi MB,
That is VERY narrow for your size 12/13 feet. Please measure your foot using this method: Kick your heel (barefoot please, no socks) back against a wall. Mark the floor exactly at the tip of your toe (the one that sticks out furthest - which toe this is will vary by rider). Measure from the mark on the floor to the wall. That is your foot length and is the only measurement that you will want to use. Measure in centimeters if possible, but if not, take inches and multiply by 2.54 (example: an 11.25 inch foot x 2.54 = 28.57 centimeters). |

My bare foot measured out as exactly 10.5 inches, or 26.67 cm. Now, is there any way that I can compare this measurement with a board without physically having it in front of me (as to order online)? I know that the waist width isn't exactly the live-or-die metric. With all of the said, would the 161, 165, or 169 Barracuda suit my needs, or should I just concede to my yeti features and go wide? Thanks again! |
Id go for the investment in the wider board, if you believe that you're done growing id buy the wider, and nicer board so that you dont have to spend more later on. And no problem for the PM

Do you have any models to recommend? I haven't really looked at many wider boards. |
