Question about first wax
Hello guys, my board just came in and I just got done waxing it (it's now drying)... I used Snowolf's guide and everything turned out well... or so I thought...
When I was finished I picked up the board and some parts on the topsheet felt very hot to the touch. I was trying to make sure it would only get so warm as I was waxing by touching it once in a while, and moving the iron around at all times like the vid, etc, but did not realize that some parts were actually hot until I picked it up when I was done. It was noticeably hot inn parts when I have read to not let it get hotter than warm. I was running my iron at 125-135 degrees C. Is there any change I did some damage to my new board? If it matters, it's a sintered 7500 base. |
Unless you left your iron on the board, in the same spot, for a long time, you are good.

It should be fine, it takes quite a lot of heat to actually damage the board.
If you do feel like it's getting too hot and you haven't adequately spread the wax evenly, just let it sit for a bit to cool off before continuing. |

Just looks like excess wax you didn't manage to scrape off.

I hope you are correct, but I am just a paranoid little wax virgin and I thought I could have done damage |
Either could be excess wax or a spot that did not get as much wax. Still no matter the case your board is fine. Stop freaking out, snowboards are tougher than you think.

Simply scratch the area with your finger nail. Wax under your nail = scrub some more..... might be just a little low spot. Looks like you have done a pretty nice job.
I would also suggest you just go ride. That little spot will be cleaned off in no time. Have fun shredding !!!!!!!!!! |
Snowolf, I am certain that is not where the sticker was from the factory (it was on the lower half of the board).
Is it possible the board came like this from the factory? Should this be of concern? |
Sorry to jump in here, but waxing a new board, should you use base cleaner or just go straight over with the wax, considering it won't be dirty?
Gonna be doing mine soon so thought in here would be a good places to ask :-) Alex B |
