About me:
I am 5'8" and only 120 pounds male. I wear size 9 - 10 boots. Intermiedte rider getting more into park and freestyle riding.
I like riding freestyle with a mix of free riding. I want a board that will handle flat land butters, jibbing, presses with ease. I go through the park terrain every other run or so. My runs usually consist of only greens and blues as i dislike black d's, moguls, trees, back country and steep *** icy runs (so my board will never be hitting any of those places).
For the flex, i want a noodle, super buttery board that id be able to handle with ease; considering im super light weight.
What do you guys think? Will the WWW fit my needs more or the Artifact? Or some other board recommendation? I have a budget of $300, so no Signal Park Rocker, GNU park pickle, LT Bannana, etc.
Although, I'm not a HUGE fan of my Artifact, for your needs, buttering around greens/blues, pressing, super noodley board, it may be right up your alley.
I like the board in the park, but It def lacks what I desire for top to bottom riding.
I must say, It is a really FUN PLAYFUL board to ride.
How does it lack for top to bottom riding considering its not put on black d's and such runs? Does it lack to the point, you have trouble going down green and blue runs comfortably?
Absolutely not, If I was spending my day riding greens/blues and in the park it would probably be the the board I pulled out. FYI (traditional camber 153).
My point was for a "all mountain riding" Double Blacks, speed, hitting some glades etc. I would be looking for something with a little more stability. Although, I have def rode my Artifact on larger mountains, All day long and gets the job done. Just wouldn't be my board of choice for "fast aggresive riding".
For playing around on blues and greens with some park work, it's a A FUN board
Hey JYM I ride a time artifact rocker and I love it.
I ride it in the park and on runs, even going into Black dd sometimes.
Did take it in POW at bigwhite and faired fine.
It's a Great board an isn't too limiting.
I'm sure you'll love it.
Can't compare 'em, cause I never tried the Artifact...
But I rode my brother's 152 WWW K2 for a week, and I liked it a zilion times more than what I expected from a board that costs about half of my old board.
Have to admit though, I've been out of the loop for a while, and my old board is a beat up camber deck with A LOT of milage...
Still, the only territory where the www let me down was fast icy runs, so it should be right up your alley. Buttery, flexible, pretty light...Seemed like the perfect park/jib board to me. From day one on the www I pulled off my usual lousy ground tricks near perfect, just because I'm used to a fairly stiff camber board instead of this butter stick.
Again though, to be honest: I'm no expert, and I've only used a handful of different boards in my life. You should really listen to someone who actually rode both boards instead of me
Don't know if there's anything similar to the LT skate banana that fits your buget, but it seems like that's still popular with the park/butter kids
For your needs I guess it'd make sense to go all the way with a hard rocker profile, right?:dunno:
I hear many great things from both sides the WWW and Artifact. I guess all it boils down to do is personal preference. Im leaning more towards the WWW just because it seems to have a bit more stability and pop in exchange for flex. The Artifact really does sound like a fun board and was actually my first pick before doing extra research on other boards. I also heard that having a really soft buttery board can actually hurt your performance doing jumps and butters because its much easier to wash out (especially combined with rocker camber and a shorter length). Having said that, everything points toward the WWW; it might not be as soft as the Artifact but it is definitely soft enough to be able to perform, whilst giving a better edge, stability, and pop which also means comefortable performance outside the park terrain (to an extend). Of course many of these factors ultimately come down to the rider himself, but these "factors" can contribute to a easier learning curve, a more enjoyable ride. This is pretty much what i learned from my research. If anyone care to disagree or add unto what i've stated please feel free to do so! I love hearing other people's opinions and never hurts to know how others feel!
EDIT:
I just placed my order on the K2 WWW 47! Im stoked!
I've heard that both those boards are very similar. I've never used a WWW but my bro owns an artifact rocker. It's definitely a noodle. Presses and butters like crazy! I've never used it but it looks like a lot of fun. He uses it on all his runs, mainly blues and greens, maybe an occasional black. It can handle them just fine. It has decent pop for being such a flexy board. He is 5'7 130 lbs and he rides the 144. Might be a tad bit small, but you should be fine with either that size or the size about it.
Cool guys! My WWW should be here less than a week, ill take it for a spin and let you know how it rides!!
