Hello everyone ! :welcome:
I'm looking for my first snowboard.
I decided to buy K2 Bridgade 12/13 snowboard. I'm new to this sport
Age: 28
Height: 6.3 ft (189cm)
Weight: 215lbs (100kg)
and i wear 12-13 boots.
Can't decide which one is better for me - 159W or 163W :dunno:
some people told me that I can buy 159W because it's better for beginners like me, easy to turn and so on. But all Tables/calc show that I need 163W :dizzy:
I will use snowboard for freeride. (mountains)
Allready have Flow ANSR Boa Snowboard Boots
what do you think about K2 Bridgade + K2 Mach ?
you will be fine with ether, the shorter one will be a little easier to maneuver while your first learning, the longer will provide more stability once you progress and start to ride faster.
Where do you ride? if it is on groomed snow the majority of time then i would get the 159w, if you are in an area that receives lots of new snow and you have to deal with bumps and chunks then i would get the 163w.
k2 make nice bindings they should be fine, boots are all preference, spend some money and get a nice model.
I started on a wide longer board. I would recommend the 163 of the two, but you could always split the difference and get a 161. I think stability is more important for a beginner.
Wait are you a beginner, I just saw you already have some boots?
I'm about 15lbs heavier than you but we are the same height and size 13 boot, so ill offer up my opinion.
I think it really depends on your riding style and stance width...below 160 usually tends to be softer than above 160 on the exact same board, so a 159 will be more forgiving at the expense of speed, stability, and a locked in feel.
If you have a wide stance (25+) then a 159 will feel even softer when initiating turns and general riding.
The benefits of a larger board become apparent the better you become.
Lastly, a 159 will have a smaller waist width so you'll definitely want a 159W to accommodate your boots.
I'd recommend 162W at the low end and 164W+ if you are a strong, athletic 220lbs.
My bad, I did click on a regular not a wide when I was looking at the K2. Enjoy the new board. If your in CO, go ride this weekend at Breck, check out the Dew Tour, and possible get some free shit.
