I currently have a 2001 Ride timeless 158cm that is still in OK shape but years of use are starting to wear on it. I live in the southeast so most of my boarding takes place on groomed/ice runs and I'm getting too old to hang out in the park much. I'm going to Utah in January which is making me think that it might be time for a new board. My budget is under $300 since the cost of the trip is getting to eat up most of my extra cash. So is a newer sub $300 dollar board going to be better then my good old timeless?
My info: Weight: 165lbs Height: 6' Intermediate rider Boards that I'm currently thinking about: 2012 Ride Manic Snowboard 158cm $195 2012 Contract Code Yeti 159cm $265 Also thinking about picking up some 2012 Burton Ambush boots as my current ones don't fit that well. Any opinions on these? |

The 2012 Ride Manic might be a pretty good option for you. It's a solid board and a really low price. Assuming it has the same all-terain rocker as the 2013 version (im sure it does), it will probably handle powder better than your old timeless....hopefully you get some powder in Utah.
Im not familiar with the Contract, so no opinion there. I would think the Manic would perform better than the 11 year-old timless. I'm not certain of that, but snowboard tech has changed soooo much in the last 5 years that I imagine it sould be better. I think rocker will definitely help in powder over the camber on the 2001 board. |

new is always better..
depending on how many days you have on a 11 yr old board, its more than likely lost its POP.. a new board will bring new life to your legs and be a lot more snappy off jumps, pillows, poppers and just flat land ollies.. technology has come a ways in the last 10 yrs.. |
