.....who come up with shit like graphics on lobster snowboards and other snowboards you may see....like there so crappy in the extreme!!! What do the companies do? hire a bunch of wasted douche nozzles and tell them to go wild and design something?
My middle boys Forum Contract had a pic of a hooker on it. We really struggled with letting him get that. The picture is a real life pic and she is clothed. In the long run it was a better graphic than some of the ones I've seen out there, bordering on pornographic. Not what we approve of here.
I'll admit tho, the lobster boards are fuckig weird and I honestly think some are really trashy, and would never buy them because the graphics are just stupid.
Who is the IDIOT who decided that your taste is the 'right' one? We all like different things. I love the graphic on lobster snowboards. I think they are funny, and kinda just don't give a damn what people think.
Not the entirity of this youth is made of 'f*cking dipshits' as you put it. Some of us just like to have fun.
would you go into a job interview wearing a shirt with a Lobster print on it? I doubt it, why? because you are judged for your choices and your choices say a lot about who you are as a person....that's the way it is. You can ride the same boards with basic graphics or buy a Bataleon board if you just want the tech....people ride those boards because they like to think they are shocking people.. the only thing that shocks me is how much of idiot you are if you buy something like that.
Torpedo made a good logical argument, then blew it with a personal attack in the last sentence. Which of course is the sentence you keyed on to the exclusion of the rest of the message. Read his post again, without the last sentence.
Helgasons do the Lobster graphics, JDK in Burlington did the hooker graphic concept, and most graphics are done by people that don't give a fuck about you.
lobster has the exact same model with extremely conservative graphics - take your choice. They're getting noticed for these special edition graphics, so good for them. Even bad publicity is publicity.
I was looking around a shop the other day with my 8 year old daughter and she points to this lobster board....
....and she says.."Dad, what's that supposed to be?"
I do think these boards have terrible graphics, but I also understand they are trying to market to a generation of f*cking dipshit youth, so hey..... I guess It makes sense in a terrible way. I also think Never Summer and the vast majority of Burton graphics are also terrible, but only because they are so god awful boring.
Oh..and my response to my daughter was..."Um...nothing, nevermind....come over here and look at this one with the unicorn"

I didn't mean the entire generation of young people... Just a certain percentage.. But I suppose we will always need someone to pick up the dead end jobs.
I agree those boards are distasteful but as others have said "to each his/her own" and "you don't have to buy it."
Sadly, those prints will sell to some misguided individuals. I once bought a t-shirt that said "Bad Mother f'er" uncensored. I liked it because I like that scene from Pulp Fiction when Jewels tells the diner robers to fetch his wallet. Anyway, I never once wore it out of the house except as an undershirt. The one time I did wear it out it was on accident and I felt so uncomfortable. The kids don't need that kind of example set.
I believe that most people would find boards like that offensive and I even bet there are a few mountains who would ask those folks with offensive stuff to leave. I would hope generally people would stand up for unoffensive stuff. Go snowboard down your front lawn.
I actually feel the same way about some of the Capita boards, but hey, if you don't like it don't buy it.
Like another person said, my board is usually covered with too much snow to see the top sheet, not to mention all the stickers.
I remember when the Burton "Love" series boards made a huge ruckus and were even banned from some resorts.
Looking back, I bet many people would rather have kept those boards allowed and leave it at that than to progress to the graphics companies like Lobster have now. The Love boards weren't near as distasteful and ridiculous as some of these new ones are.
Either way I think people should be able to ride what they like, even if it makes them look like d bags.
It's a free country. Let them try to sell them....No problem.
But I would remind folks that ski/snowboarding takes place at public places with a wide range of ages from kids to adults. Not that I am a prude or anything. But it is not like we are going boarding at a bar that is 21 and over. Or even 16 and over. There are pretty young kids around...
And while I am complaining...I have not learned any new words boarding (i am 44). But It is kind of crappy when kids are f' this and f' that in front of like 8 and 10 year old kids.
See... I see these boards as a slight throwback to the 90's/early 2000's skate scene. There were so many decks that had graphics on par with these. The "punk/hesher" attitude of these sports has kind of diminished these days in the mainstream but the graphics were/are supposed to piss people off and get people talking which they seem to be doing.
Why are some of you guys paying that close attention to someones board anyway? You should be paying attention to whats important...shredding some lines!
The Burton snowboard is abstract and not really that offensive. The guitar is not in an obvious vagina. Where is the clitoris, are you sure it's suppose to be a vagina? Georgia O'Keeffe painted flowers that looked more like vaginas.
I would not ride any of those very offensive boards. They may cause problems on the mountain, like being refused on the lift. I know this has happened at my mountain to someone I know with an offensive rude tee shirt business. Those snowboards would be better in a private home on the wall. This is the kind of stuff you keep to yourself. The graphics are nicely done and don't suck, but the subject matter is not for the general public.
