First day with new (used) board, a couple of questions - Snowboarding Forum

Last Spring, I bought a used board from Craigslist. Yesterday I went riding with it for the first time and had a blast. The only problem was that my bindings kept loosening. I would tighten my front binding on the lift line, and then it would be 2-3 notches loose when I strapped in. The same thing happened with both the front and back bindings (moreso for the front) from the beginning of a run to the end. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Also, this is my first board (it's long overdue!) and I know about waxing, base cleaning, tuning edges, and summer storage, but is there anything I should do each day when I get home from the mountain to keep my board in good shape?

Your binding's strap/ladders may be worn and not holding properly anymore? The ratchets could be worn out? Hard to know without seeing them...

As for post-shred board action: Give the edges a quick wipe to dry them so they don't rust... or not, throw it in a corner and have a beer instead

Would it help if I posted a picture of the bindings? If so, of what part and from what angle?

Maybe a pic of the ladder closeup with the ratchet? A pic of the whole binding perhaps too. Someone may know the binding, and how it works...

Probably hard to tell from a photo, but someone here will probably have a better idea than me as well so it can't hurt to post one!

buy some new burton straps and ratchets...they are about the best ratchets out there...you might have to drill some holes in them but that is easy diy.

Okay, so here are pictures of the ratchet and the binding as a whole (I took the photo of the front binding, but the back looks pretty much the same). As far as I can tell, the only wear is that the black coating on the tip of the ratchet (the part that digs into the strap) is worn off.

Is it just me or are the pictures not showing up?

my local core shop did me up a mismatched set for free or set of ratchets and straps is like $20.
