Hi All,
Im starting to look for my new board for the 2013 season. I've currently got a 2011 GNU Carbon Credit 165w which has served me extremely well for my first ever board. Im 6"6 currently around 290pounds but am hoping to loose 20-30 pounds before the winter and have a size 13 boot I would consider myself an intermediate rider, potentially bordering on advanced this season. Im based in Australia but should see a week in Queenstown as well as 30-40 days at perisher here in AUS I have heard very good things about the Lib Techs, specifically the T Rice and the Skunk Ape. What would you guys recommend for me? |

The Skunk Ape seems like it would be right up your alley. I haven't ridden one, but from the reviews it seems like it would be a good fit for you. It is Lib's board for bigger folks after all. The T-Rice is a mid wide so your foot will fit it for sure, but at your weight, it may feel a little softer than you might like.

So a while back I was talking to this shop kid about the T.Rice and he was all "Yeah, that thing is like, crazy stiff."
And I was like "Really? How stiff could it be?" And he was all like, "Like, really, really stiff Bro." So I bought one anyways. Being a product of 90's snowboarding, I can tell you that it is no stiffer than any cambered boards from back in the day and probably softer than most of them. Not sure why I am telling you all this wonderful story but I guess the moral is, listen to people but ultimately you have to make up your own mind and go with your gut. I love that T.Rice board but hate the fact that I almost did not buy one because of someone else's input. Conversely, my buddy has a Skunk Ape (Size 13's), same size 157, and HE loves his. It's just that his, is not quite as fast as mine.

Skunk Ape 169W. It also comes in a 165W but that seems too short for your weight. I got guys in my crew anywhere from 2-7" shorter than you, and 80-90lbs. lighter that ride 164-166 as an all mountain board.
