need some advice on buying LSD boards

Hey everyone, I've been snowboarding on and off for a couple years now, and I decided its time to buy my first real board.

I'd say I'm intermediate, I can link turns, do some intermediate hills and get up some speed. I'm 5'7" about 120 lbs & want a quality board that doesn't wreck my pocketbook. I went to play it again sports to check sizes and tried on some 143, 145, 147 and 150 boards. I think I like the 145 the best. But the boards I'm looking at come only in 143/47. I felt ok on the 147, like it was on the brink of feeling too long but wasn't. But for advancing purposes I think I'd go up to 147 instead of down to 143. I just didn't want it to be too long or heavy to maneuver in the park.

I also want to try a rocker board, because I eventually want to try some park, and mess around a bit but I mostly go all mountain. Also I'm from the midwest so theres not really any powder. Northern, Illinois and lower Wisconsin to be specific. Also about the rocker, I really got sick of catching weird edges with my friends camber board, which was a guys board and I think a little too big for me.

So after doing a lot of online research I'm stuck between 3 boards. The Ride Rapture, Ride Compact and DC Biddy. I'm definately leaning towards the Compact because it seems like the most for my money. It has lowrize rocker which seems good because I dont want to be sliding all over the mountain on ice that sometimes happens here. I can't really find much difference between the Compact and Rapture other then Rapture claims to be a bit more beginner, is 30$ cheaper, doesn't have slimewalls and has one point less flex. The ones I'm looking at are the 2012 models. The DC Biddy has great reviews also, cool graphics and a weird anti camber core which seems to get good praise also.

heres the DC Biddy

I found the compact listed on some top 10 womens snowboards lists and I believe all 3 of these won some kind of award. If anyone has any experience with these or advice in general about good boards to buy that would be fantastic. Thanks!

my thread got triple posted by accident...not sure how to delete the other 2 or if an admin has to.

From the reviews I've read of the Rapture, it seems most people (beginners) soon outgrow it. So out of the two Ride boards, the Compact may be better for you.

At your stats (I'm 5'8" 120), the 147 is a good choice. I picked up the Rapture this season for a park board but haven't had it out yet. I have another board as my all mountain.

Sorry, I don't know much about DC boards since I've never considered them.

Good luck!

Thanks the size validation really helps, I was struggling with that for a while

DC isn't known for high quality construction or durability; Id consider looking at some other brands. I might have missed your budget, but in addition to Ride, Gnu/Lib (skip Roxy due to mark up for the same board) whenever Summer are some other brands to look at. You may also want to check out evo.com esp the outlet section if you're on a budget.

Awesome, thanks for the advice. I wasn't so sure about DC because I never really hear a lot about them, so thats good to know.

This is a guys board, she is a light girl. She should probably get a girls board.
