Burton Antler or Rome MOD Rocker?
Hey all. I'm ending about a year's worth of lurking and posting my first thread.
Here are my stats: 6' 180 lbs, size 12-13 boots.... currently ride an '08 Burton Vapor cambered 163cm... home mountain is Stowe, VT (aka the ice coast)... I'm an instructor and have the skill set to handle an advanced board.
I've done mostly freeride bombing hills, tree runs, and high speed carved turns up until now, but I'm trying to slow it down a bit this year and really have fun up on the hill (butters, presses, slashing and natural kickers, maybe a lil bit of park straight airs).
So that's me - and I'm shopping for a new deck. I really want to downsize from my 163 camber and maybe try something softer and different style-wise. It'd be great for whipping through trees and starting to learn some spins. I don't trust full rocker but the Flying V and flat base are kind of intriguing.
I demoed both a Burton Antler (157.5) and a Mod Rocker (158W) and both were great. Really responsive and plenty of pop to go around. Loved the flex of the antler and the Rome stomped in the park runs I took. Both boards seem to be pretty excellent this season and for what I'll use them for, they're nearly identical in pros/cons. Seems like a real toss up so I'm waffling here.
Any further insight from anyone on which would be a better choice?
