Default Length Recommendations

Just getting into 'boarding and need suggestions on board length. I'm 6'4 and 188lbs and wear size 12 sneakers. Mid wide board would be good I've noticed but what about length? I'll be riding on-piste only and would like to get into powder later on. No park. Also any suggestions as to what board I could get? I've been looking at 162W boards. I'm Canadian but currently live in Prague, CZ and the selection here isn't always that great. Only good board I found in my size and in stock is the Burton Custom. Been looking at the Never Summer Legacy but so difficult to track down here in my size even on Euro eBay sites.

Any suggestions and info greatly appreciated.

Not skinny at all but it would be a miracle if I started growing again at my age.

I think youre pretty much right on with the length based on your weight. I started on an older custom. Not a bad ride, but glad to be off of it. Its a bench now. The Legacy is a great all mountain board if you can find one.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at other brands as well but its so difficult to find a 162W or 163W etc. I'd like to get an all-mountain board thats why the Legacy caught my eye. Worst comes to worse, I'll get the Custom and ride it for a few seasons, sell it then track down an NS though it'll be tough from my location. One of the times I wish I was back in Canada

I tried it, but they won't ship NS outside of the US so I'd have to find a dealer in the EU. Besides, this is socialist Europe so even if they did import fees, taxes and shipping would make it ridiculously expensive

Found a GNU Carbon Credit Orange in stock in 162W. Any reviews?

A good friend of mine rides one. He really likes it. From what he used to ride he says it lacks a bit of pop cause of the rocker but likes the edge hold. I just don'tlike rthat I'm always repairing his base! It's pretty soft. It's decent for an all mountain ride and pretty good in the pow. On a plus side its pretty easy to maintain because of the extruded base.

Nothing wrong with the current custom... I think wernersl was talking about an old board, and even then I was riding with a buddy of mine the other day, he was on a 10 year old Custom and he was tearing it up!!!

Size is about right by the way in the low 160s...
