I currently have a 2013 smokin superpark wide 159. Love this board and it def does everything well but somedays I don't ride park and just bomb sh!t and will see groomed, ice, pow, bumped, trees. I think at super High speeds the board isn't as stable and I'm trying to find something new....... Any help is appreciated
I have a Nidecker Ultralight and I absolutely love it. It kicks ass in all the scenarios you described. It's crazy light and super fast, it takes off as soon as you point it down the fall line. It's not cheap, $799.00. A less expensive alternate could be a NS Raptor or Jones Flagship. Both excellent boards. Good luck
Jones Flagship, Jones Mtn Twin, K2 Ultradream, K2 Slayblade, K2 Turbo Dream, Salomon Mans board, any Venture, Burton Custom X, Flow Rush, Flow Drifter, Flow Solitude, Nitro Blacklight, Nitro Team Gullwing, Ride Highlife, Ride Berzerker, Rome Mod Rocker, Signal OG, Signal OG Flat, Yes PYL...
Really depends on what you're looking for. Lots of options.
My Ultralight has Ultimate Grip edges which work well in icy conditions. The Flagship has their own edge technology called Magne Traction. I have no personal experience with it but I've always read how versatile it is. From powder to groomers to ice it does it all.
The Bataleon Undisputed.
I have demo'd the Omni and it was a solid board. The Undisputed is even stiffer and more aggressive. I would buy one if I didn't already have a Pantera (which is another option to consider).
One thing I have learned over the years od riding CTX is that you need a slightly higher edge angle when at higher speed if your not flat base bombing. I ride it a few ways.... Flat based straight lining going super fast. Flat base straight with skidded turns to burn off speed. Carving with over 20 degreeish edge angle. And combos of all of them...... Mines a kt22 but same profiles on base and edge.
Either way you look at it though, you will never beat the stability of a longer cambered board at high speeds
That was another on my list when searching for big mountain freeride boards. Similar hybrid camber to NS but I did not want Magnetraction. Also have a local friend in South Lake steer me away from them because I guess he knows the guys and...well didn't have good things to say. I'll leave it at that. There are other reasons I chose the Raptor over it but those are the two major ones. BUT...good luck with it and report back on your thoughts after you ride it.
anyone know if the lib tech skunk ape hp would be good for freeride. Im also looking at the nidecker ultralight. Which would be better
