Hey guys. I've been snowboarding for about a year now, and it's time to get all the equipment. I am, however, a little confused on sizing and whether or not I can avoid getting a wide board or not (from what I hear, wide SUCKS).
My Stats: -Size 13 sneaker (prob can fit size 12 boots though not 100% sure) -Male -6'1" -168 pounds -Lift wieghts regularly (still gaining weight) -All riding will be done in northeast. I want an all mountain snowboard as well. Based on those stats, do you think I need a wide board? I really like the Burton Operator and Custom (both come in wide versions). I have been told that I don't need wide, and spacers will do the trick (I have no idea what that means haha). Also, any recommendations on bindings? Thanks a lot guys. |

Go with a wide board, the risers are bs and I am not even sure if anyone makes them anymore. Much better all mountain boards than the Burton ones imo. Wide boards are just fine. I've been using them for years, what is said about them is from people who have never ridden one or for who a wide board is not appropriate.

With a size 13 boot you will need a wide board. I've never used spacers but the idea of them is to raise your boots higher above your board so you can have more room for overhang. I don't know exactly how well they work though. I couldn't really recommend any burton board except the uninc because I have been on a burton board long enough to really like it. The uninc is one of my favorites though. For bindings I got the P1s and 390s. Both are awesome.

Neversummer makes some good quality wide boards. The Legacy comes in a wide. Unity Dominion, Flow Quantum, some of the Arbor models have wide models. Lot's of manufacturers to chose from actually. Everyone has their wide models.
