Novice Board - Snowboarding Forum

I Am a teenage boarder starting my 2nd year on the slopes. Rented gear all last year. Have the opportunity to purchase a Skunk Ape by LIBtech Mervin Mfg. 157 Wide. $300 Seems like a good price but does anyone know how this board stacks up to other boards like Burton, or Atomic as far as quality and cost.

Well does it fit your needs for a snowboard? Do you need a wide freeride board?

I wear a 11.5 sneaker. Am concentrating on just getting down the trail without falling right now. No tricks or stunts. very little air. Looks like a much better board than I am used to renting, just wondering if its a good value for the money?
