bindings... targas vs customs

Hey

My friend is looking to buy his first setup...

he is trying to decide on his bindings but cant decide on either Rome Targa's ('07 for $114) or Burton Customs ('08 for $84)... hes gone snowboarding twice. He is mostly focused on freeriding but he hasnt tried the park yet so that might be a future possibility.

So what do you guys think? Targas or Customs?

(i'm really biased towards the targas cuz i have a pair myself and they are definitely the shit... but ive never tried customs)

customs, the targas are too performace oriented for a beginner. The customs are softer and more forgiving, but still repsonsive enough to HELP the rider.

though if you can find some, I think the union cadets are a better buy than customs

Snowboarding Is...

That thing I do to escape the world and have fun with my friends

Targas all the way. Since he's a beginner and doesn't know his style, Targas are perfect. As an owner, I can say that they've got mad tweakability and can support any riding style... And if your Targas are shit, sit down w/ em for an hour and fit them to your boots.

Targa's its a binding he won't out grow as he progresses. Just have him put the softest c flex strap in the heel strap and he basically has the 390's.
