help choosing a board.

Well, me and a few friends are going to Lake Tahoe over winter break so I want to get a snowboard. I know I want the brand to be Santa Cruz, and the whole package to be under $500. I'm 5'10-11" and weight 145. My shoe size is 10.5 in skate shoes. Thanks for the replies.

If you want to get a whole set up under 5 bills I wouldn't get stuck on one brand and instead start surfing the online close outs and late season stock at local shops. Most shops might have already unloaded their overstock though since fall is close, but probably still many good deals.

What kind of riding (all mountain vs. freestyle) are you wanting it for?

If your looking for great bindings... Sierrasnowboard.com still has 2007 Burton Cartels for $109. Thats a really good deal for some really good bindings. Research see what you like, still lots of deals out there. Also, theres other brands that are just as good but cheaper. I like Nitro. boards are made in austria and have 2yr warranties. Anyways have fun searching. Its great getting new stuff.

GET YOUR BOOTS FIST!!! That is the single more important part of your set-up, and if your feet hurt, your day is pretty much bunked. As far as being stuck on Santa Cruz...don't. There are plenty of other stuff out there for cheaper, you just gotta shop around, hell, go onto craiglist or ebay and start looking at used boards/bindings.
