Default Boot Flex

I am a beginner looking for a pair of boots for my 1st snowboard.

When looking at boots, besides comfort and feel what flex would you recommend?

I realize that for a beginner it probably doesn't matter, but would a Freestyle boot be good or should I look for more at an all mountain boot with a stiffer flex?

Inner lace ups are good to keep your heal down in the boot. Stiffer is more responsive and softer is more comfortable. It's all personal preference. Most boots today need to be on your foot for 5-10 minutes so they'll heat up and conform to your foot. So spend an afternoon at a shop trying them on...
I use a stiffer boot like the Forum Kicker SLR and once it's on your foot and your riding I can no longer see it as stiff. Just responsive!!!
