Basalt explained (featured on Mervin boards)

For all of you wondering what you'll get for choosing basalt over fiberglass:

Basalt Fibers: a new alternative to Glass?

As wolfie said, this guy is a troll - previously he claimed that he had never ridden an NS board:

Ironic considering how many times he is compelled to bring it up in unrelated threads.

Shows what I know, lol, not as active here as I used to be. That's pathetic though.

What's funny is I actually had this discussion with friends recently, comparing all kinds of NS and Lib/Gnu decks. My Heritage, Cobra and ProtoHD are all lighter than the equivalently sized Gnu RC, T.Rice, Jamie Lynn, Dark Series, etc...

16 NS West . 15 NS Snowtrooper BIA . 13 Salomon Pow Snake
15 Now Drive . 14 Burton Genesis
14 Flow Hylite

They are, but it really only matter when lugging the deck up the mountain. As discussed in the other thread, otherwise the difference in weight is pretty insignificant - and becomes even less percentage-wise when you include bindings, split gear, etc.

Oh, and some NS decks are in fact still pretty chunky, say the Premier F1.
