For all of you wondering what you'll get for choosing basalt over fiberglass:

What's funny is I actually had this discussion with friends recently, comparing all kinds of NS and Lib/Gnu decks. My Heritage, Cobra and ProtoHD are all lighter than the equivalently sized Gnu RC, T.Rice, Jamie Lynn, Dark Series, etc...

They are, but it really only matter when lugging the deck up the mountain. As discussed in the other thread, otherwise the difference in weight is pretty insignificant - and becomes even less percentage-wise when you include bindings, split gear, etc.

Oh, and some NS decks are in fact still pretty chunky, say the Premier F1.
