Check out the stickied thread above -- Guides to Waxing, Tuning and Board Repair. It's got lots of great info about waxing tips and techniques. It's where I read that you can use kerosene to clean your base. Still not sure if I should go cheap with kerosene or pony up for the pricey base-cleaner...

Fair enough -- honestly, if it wasn't for the uber-warm spring conditions that I last rode in that made my base look pretty scuzzy and dirty I wouldn't even be considering a base cleaning. Considering that my board is a couple of years old and has never had one, it's probably time. I have a feeling a base grind wouldn't be a bad idea either given the number of nicks i can see, and that solves all my problems since I can leave it to the professionals.
