Hello.
Currently, I have a Rome Anthem (pretty stiff), Bent Metal Carbon bindings (extremely stiff) and Salomon Malamute boots (stiffest on the market?). Note that I just bought my Anthem this summer, so I haven't had a chance to ride it yet. I read somewhere that it's a bad idea to ride with stiff bindings when combined with as stiff board and and stiff boots. So first, is there any credence to this statement? Should I be riding in slightly more flexible bindings? Also, I'm more of a mountain free rider than anything else. I'll spend a little bit of time in the park, but I spend most of my time looking for deep powder or on technical back-country-esque runs. Given this info, what bindings do you think would be ideal for my setup? Thanks. |

What Snowolf is saying is definitely true... the one negative of a stiff/stiff combination is a sore back and knees from the overall stiffness of the package. I was riding a Flag with SPi's and after a while it just became too much for me. I'm also overweight and not in ideal shape anymore but giving you my experience. I switched to a slightly less stiff binding in the Raiden Phantom midway through the season and yes I lost a little bit of the hyper sensitive reaction from the original set up but boy were my back and knees happy I did that! I even went in another direction binding wise for this year and picked up a pair of Union Data's. I initially passed on these last year because I thought they were too flexible for my taste but I got a good deal on them an am giving them a shot to see how the rank next to the Raiden's I bought last year.
