I recently nabbed my first board and was wondering on how good factory edges are -- should I take it in and get it tuned up? I already waxed it as I know factory wax is useless, but the edges I'm unsure about.
And Snowolf if you read this -- I tried searching through your old posts for a specific post I read in the past, but you've got way too many to dig through -- there was a post about edges and what you recommended for bevel degrees depending on what type of rider you are -- I'm an all-mountain rider, but this season I'd love to venture into freestyle and maybe try out park riding, but still be able to rock all-mountain without edge worries. Any recommendations? If it matters, my board is a 08 Custom Thanks all! Last edited by Biggs; 11-16-2008 at 07:11 PM. |

I have always found the edges on a new board to be perfect. I usually take a file to the it to detune the tips and tails about 3 inches down the edge. I also have found factory was to be excellent for about the first 5 or 6 days depending on conditions.I've actually ridden factory wax as much as 15 days or more on a new board and found it to be fine. Its all about consistency, as soon as I wax a board I have to get used to the new wax.,... old wax is predictable,, rides just like the day before..
