So Lame - What to do
So... on the bottom of my new board there was a clear envelope that has sticky on the back of the WHOLE THING. It was almost the size of a piece of paper. Well I did my best getting it off but there is A LOT of sticky crap left on it :(
Goo Gone? Is that safe on the bottom of the board? |
Just go ride it, it'll soon disappear on the snow.
|
^^^tis what i would suggest
otherwise, you can get those solvent based cleaners that take off old wax; they'd be safe on yer base but really, dont stress; a few runs down a hill and it'll be history |
What they said works. I would get a good base cleaner, clean it off then wax your board anyway. Factory wax sucks.
|
Goo Gone is really good at stripping the wax and of course sticker material. I have about 10 bottles of the stuff which I use solely for my boards. You will need to rewax your board after although it will likely need it if it just has the factory wax on it. Factory wax is good for maybe a day or two of riding in a pinch but more intended to keep the board protected during storage and sales.
|
So in summary, clean and re-wax. And when you re-wax, do it about 5 or 6 times. That seems excessive, but once you get to about the 2nd or 3rd coat, you'll notice that the base is absorbing more wax than usual.
|
Just get some good tape and do a dabbing motion on it and it should come off.
|
Wah Wah Wah its sticky on my board. Bust out the citrus base cleaner and go to town. Don't use anything that has Alcohol in it, it will dry your base out and hurt the pores. You can also just scrape it all off with a wax scraper then re hot wax it.

I used Goo Gone
Getting it rewaxed monday or tuesday :) |
