I am new to this forum and semi-new to snowboarding. I started two years ago and own an all Mtn board now but want to pick up a freestyle board. I am 5'10/ 160. I ride a 158 Burton for all mtn board and need to know what size freestyle board to buy. I heard a 153 would be good for my size.

Thanks for the link info!! All good stuff. The question I have is should a freestyle board be shorter than a all mtn board? I read the link stuff and understand it has to do with my weight and the board itself(manufacture) but in general theory should a "trick" board be shorter to help its purpose? does this make any sense......sorry if not.

THANK YOU! I just reread the stickies I put up and realized I had not mentioned the average sizes of the various type of decks. Thanks for catching that. I updated the posts over there to include that information.

Next, there are two parts to your question. First, freestyle boards ARE shorter than all mountain decks. Their average size is usually around 148 - 154(ish) cm. Second, your question makes me think that (a) you are a new rider, and (b) that you are looking for a freestyle board? If both are true, I'd really recommend you go for an all-mountain board first. Learn to walk before you run. ;)

Yup somewhat new to the sport. Like I said in the first post this will be year three for me and I already own a ALL MTN BOARD. I think the "walking" is done (haha), got the bruises to prove it.I go about 4-5 days a week during the winter and want to move on to the park now.Money is not a problem so I would like to own a board for each style.THANKS A TON for the info.......

Yeah, if you have the money, EVERYONE should do that. You really can't understand or appreciate how a given type of board rides until you have ridden one of "each style." You also really can't figure out what type of riding you like until you've done it on board that is really designed for it. Have fun and happy shopping!
