Pulled the trigger. After reading that Yes made some changes to the 2014 lineup of the Basic, I couldn't just order the board sight unseen.

Walked into my local board shop. Asked some questions. Looked at their boards. Got some really good advice and knowledge.

Came home with a Lib Tech Skate Banana. Magnatraction, BTX, and rocker profile for easy turn initiation.

Question regarding bindings. I currently have the Rome Targas from maybe 3-4 years ago. I like them a lot. However, the guys at the shop where I got the board mentioned that the Targas may be a little stiff for the Skate Banana.

Is that true or are they trying to sell me on bindings too?

Targas will be a bit stiffer than you want but doable. From Rome the mob and 390s would be better matches

Why do I want a more playful binding on a softer board? Explain the concept so I can understand...

Unless you have money to throw around, just use the bindings you have. I get the feeling you don't have the experience to know exactly what you want, hell you got sold on a skate banana.

Ride the fucker with the bindings you got for like 20 days. If you don't like em, you will know why and what to look for when you shop.

Yikes, I'm afraid to ask why that was a bad decision.

I'm sure its fine.

Its like someone who would or has never owned an iphone making fun of someone who was all stoked about their iphone 5.

The only way to know what you like is to ride it. I have had some gear I hated.

Not a bad decision at all, but it is not a board one would choose to rip it up all over the mountain, although some do just that with it.

I think that most people in shops will sell you what you think you want, whereas people on here are more likely to try to figure out what you need.

In your case though, I think those are similar things.

It was not a bad decision. Skate Banana is an excellent board for many, many riders. Some people want something different and that is ok too, but you will be just fine with the Banana for a long time.

I just want to be able to link turns and get down a blue with this. I don't think I'm ready to rip it up at all...
